Well, our sleep experts have put together a mattress guide to help you choose a new, soft, sumptuous mattress. Keep reading, below, to discover the best mattress for you.

What is the best mattress for me?

Finding the best mattress is key to securing those lucrative, much-desired snoozing hours. But, like finding a pea under your mattress, finding the best mattress can be tricky.

So, from the hot sleepers to the fidgety snoozers, our mattress buying guide will first explore the best mattress for different types of sleepers, below.

The best mattress for support

The purpose of a mattress is to support your body, helping you get a quality night’s sleep without any aches and pains the next morning.

And when looking for the best mattress for support, a hybrid mattress is probably your best bet. Providing the best of both worlds – cool gel foam, encapsulated pocket springs, and two additional foam layers for increased comfort and support – a hybrid mattress is ideal!

What’s more, a hybrid mattress benefits from a stronger structure due to the combination of pocket springs and foam. This results in equalised pressure across the body, supporting you in the areas that need it most. Now, that sounds like the ultimate peaceful night’s sleep to us.

At DUSK.com, we currently offer two luxury mattresses: hybrid memory foam 2,000 pocket sprung and 4,000 pocket sprung mattresses.

The best mattress to stay cool

Naturally, the best mattress to stay cool is one with a cooling gel foam layer. These work to stop you from overheating as you snooze.

But how does a cool gel foam layer mattress work? Well, it allows you to enjoy cushioned support that will help keep you cool all night long, thanks to three innovative layers. But it’s the top layer where the magic happens.

With a cool gel foam layer, featuring an open cell structure to regulate your body temperature, these mattresses allow more airflow than your regular memory foam mattress. And this is what makes them the very best mattress for those who run a bit hotter than most while they sleep – not to mention being a lifesaver in the summer! Our premium hybrid mattress has this advanced temperature regulation ability.

The best mattress for minimal movement

Now, most of us wriggle about a bit as we sleep, especially when we’re trying to get cosy before we drift off. But if you’re looking for a mattress that won’t move with you, we’ve got you covered!

Pocket sprung hybrid mattresses are designed for heavenly comfort with individually wrapped pocket springs. Working in tandem, the natural comfort layer and pocket springs provide just the right amount of balance and pressure relief.

And balance is essential to a restful sleep – there’s nothing more peace disrupting than a mattress that won’t keep still. That’s what makes a hybrid pocket sprung the best mattress for an uninterrupted cosy sleep!

The best mattress for allergies

All of these mattresses sound divine, but are there any options for those hamstrung by hay fever in the spring and summer? Well, let’s look at the best mattress for allergy sufferers!

Mattresses made from natural, allergy-friendly materials are considered to be a good option for those with sensitive sinuses. As such, you’ll want a pocket sprung mattress with breathable, allergy-friendly natural fabrics, and the addition of air vents on both sides to maintain airflow.

And lucky for you, both of the hybrid mattresses we have here at DUSK tick all those boxes! We even stock mattresses with a removeable top layer, so you can simply slide that off and pop it in the washing machine to keep it fresh and clean - perfect for guaranteeing you a cosy night’s sleep, free of those pesky allergy symptoms!

The best mattress for side sleepers

According to research from YouGov, half of Britons sleep on their side. Whether you’re a left or right side sleeper, your ideal mattress will relieve pressure on your body with cushioning but help you maintain alignment. Because of this, the mix of memory foam and springs in a hybrid mattress is typically seen as the best pick for side sleepers. These types of mattresses provide the benefits of support from the springs but then also cushioning to your shoulders and hips.

What is a hybrid mattress?

After all that talk about what the best mattress for you is, you might be wondering what on earth a hybrid mattress even is.

A hybrid mattress is formed from multiple different layers to combine the benefits of both pocket sprung and foam. This helps to provide overall comfort and support, as the different layers work together to keep you in an optimal position for sleep.

These multiple layers include a cool gel foam layer and individually wrapped pocket springs, followed by a breathable Egyptian polycotton blend outer layer. And then to finish off, there’s a top layer blend of pure wool and silk.

But what does all of this mean for you? Well, the cool gel layer regulates your body temperature, pocket springs ensure support, and the smooth Egyptian cotton, pure wool, and silk layers mean you can slip under your sheets and experience true comfort every single night.

So, whether you’re looking for the best mattress to stay cool or the best mattress for support, a hybrid mattress can do it all!

FAQs

Can you sleep on a new mattress straight away?

Our mattresses arrive tightly rolled for efficient shipping and handling so they’ll need time to expand to their full, sumptuous size. Once you take the mattress out of its box, it will start to decompress and expand. We typically recommend allowing 24 hours before you sleep on it, but it can take a few days to reach its peak fullness A new mattress needs time to settle and breathe, so if you lay on it before it has gained its normal support you might find it feels firmer than expected.

How often should you change your mattress?

We advise changing your mattress every six to eight years. However, its lifespan can be cut short if:

- You notice the mattress sagging.

- The mattress has an odour you can’t get rid of.

- The mattress has become noisy and squeaky.

- You are waking up with aches and pains.
