How to fold towels

Whether you want to stick to the tried and traditional folding methods or unleash your creative flair, here are a couple of tips and tricks for folding towels:

Neatly Folded

  1. Lay the towel out on a flat surface
  2. Fold the towel in half lengthwise, matching up the edges. this will create a long, narrow strip
  3.  Fold the towel in half once more, this time matching up the short edges. you should now have a smaller square.
  4. Optional: if you have larger towels, like bath sheets, you can fold them into thirds instead of halves. Simply fold the towel in thirds lengthwise before folding it in half and then in half again.

Hang from a radiator:

For easy access, simply hang your towel from your radiator. Fold neatly and tuck it in behind the top of the radiator to keep it securely in place.

Store them in a linen closet

If you want to keep your towels neatly out of sight, store them in a linen closet. Either hang them neatly from hooks or stack them flat, one on top of the other, depending on your storage space.

How to make towels soft again

  • - Vinegar Rinse: Add a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle. This helps remove detergent residue that can make towels feel stiff.
  • - Skip Fabric Softener: Avoid using fabric softener, as it can leave a waxy buildup on towels.
  • - Shake Out Before Drying: Give each towel a good shake before putting them in the dryer. This helps prevent clumping.
  • - Avoid Overloading the Dryer: Make sure there's enough room for the towels to move around freely in the dryer.
  • - Don't Overdo Detergent: Using too much detergent can lead to buildup, making towels feel stiff.
  • - Avoid High Heat: Use a medium or low heat setting in the dryer. High heat can weaken the fibres over time.

How to store towels to save space

If you’re looking for safe-optimising ways to store your towels try layering neatly folded towels on top of your radiator. This will give the appearance of a purposely layered look that is sleek and stylish, while also saving precious space.

Alternatively, if storing your towels in a linen closet, avoid over-folding. The more times you fold your towels, the bulkier they will be, which in turn takes up more room. Simply fold into neat quarters, keeping them as flat as possible.
