Pillowcase FAQs
How do I clean my pillowcases?
Wash your pillowcases in accordance with the instructions on the label. For cotton pillowcases as well as linen, wash at around 40 degrees without bleach. Our bedding care guide can give you more advice on this.
If your pillowcase is still not as clean as you’d like it after the washing machine, soak it in hot water, washing up liquid and baking soda. Take a piece of pillowcase fabric in each hand and rub together, continuing until the entire pillowcase has been scrubbed.
Then, make a new solution of hot water, washing up liquid and baking soda to soak your pillowcase in for a few hours. After this, pop your pillowcases back in the washing machine with detergent and white vinegar.
How often should I clean my pillowcases?
We recommend washing your pillowcases once every two weeks. However, if you frequently experience blocked pores or acne it may be helpful to wash them weekly.
Should my pillowcases match my sheets?
Typically, we choose matching bedding sets for a smart and uniform bed. However, picking out pillowcases separately to other bedding such as duvet covers can allow you to play with colour and texture in fun ways.
Black pillows add drama to all white bedding, whilst Portofino pillows shake up the one-note texture of combed cotton.
The delicate pom pom detailing of a Girona pillowcase pairs beautifully with plain linen for those wanting subtle patterning. Or try white pillows with pink bedding for a strawberries-and-cream aesthetic.
