5 Ways To Make The Most Out Of An Extra Hour In Bed

How many times do you wake up in the morning just wishing that you had an extra hour in bed? Well luckily on Sunday morning, you'll get just that! The clocks will be winding back at 2am on Sunday 31st October, granting you an extra hour in bed.

Whether you like to spend your mornings being as productive as possible or whether you prefer a slow Sunday morning to celebrate the last day of the weekend, we have explored a few different options for how you can make the most out of the extra hour this weekend. 

1. Press the snooze button with zero guilt!

Great news, you can actually press snooze this morning without feeling guilty that you're going to be late for any plans you've made this weekend. If you love a lazy weekend, you probably haven't even set an alarm but rest assured if you have, you can press snooze for an hour and catch some extra Z's

Close your eyes and drift off into an extra hour of guilt-free snoozing. It's a rare occasion you get to do this so make the most of it! 

2. Did somebody say breakfast in bed?

How often is it that you get to treat yourself to a delicious breakfast in bed? There is something about it that makes everything so much tastier! Make yourself a fresh cup of tea or a tasty coffee and get back under that duvet cover and simply switch off for a full hour. 

There are plenty of appetising breakfast recipes for you to try with this extra hour! Pop your apron on and whip up some banana pancakes or why not try a healthy smoothie bowl to give you all the energy you need to get the day started? 

3. One more episode?

Take advantage of the extra hour in bed by watching another episode of the Netflix show you're currently binge-watching that you were too tired to watch last night. 

It is so frustrating when you want to squeeze in one last episode before going to sleep but you notice it's almost midnight and you have to be up early in the morning. How many times have you woken up regretting staying up to watch one more episode? With an extra hour to hand, you can enjoy one more episode without feeling tired as a consequence!. 

4. Get lost in your book

Many people enjoying reading a few chapters of their book before drifting off into a deep slumber. Studies show that reading before bed can help you sleep better, improve your focus and increase your creativity. But we all know that feeling when you're reading a good book and your eyelids begin to flutter and the next thing you know, you're falling asleep.

It's very tempting to finish one more chapter more going to sleep but with an extra hour in the morning, put your book down for the night and pick it back up the following day to enjoy a few more chapters before dozing off.  

5. Make your bed picture perfect!

If you're usually rushing around in the morning to make sure you're fully prepared for the day ahead, you will definitely appreciate this extra hour. To start your day in the best way possible, we would recommend spending a little extra time in the morning making your bed so it's even more welcoming when you come to climb back into it later that day. 

Our top tips for making your bed picture perfect would be to add layers to your bed with throws and cushions to create a co-ordinated look, add texture by creating gathers in a bedspread or throw and for an added touch of luxury, fold back the top of the throw or bedspread and finally, try experimenting with different sized cushions at the back and front of your pillows to make your bed as inviting as possible! 

Whether you want to truly indulge in the extra hour by eating a big breakfast in bed or having a tidy around and making your bed look perfect, there are plenty of ways you can take advantage of the clocks going back this October.
